About Me
Hi. My name is Polly Prail Jeffries. I am a Dorset artist very much influenced by my love of the sea and my passion for poetry and literature. Colour is important to me, especially those colours I know exist but never find labelled. Daffodil Blue, for instance.
My work represents those things we know are special or important but can't put into words: possibility, space, moments of connection between smooth and furrowed, tamed and free.
“Camping out” in my old yacht Cut Loose is one of the best ways I feel I can find the rhythm and experience the shapes and colours of movement and reflections. I portray in my works the lines and textures of the sea in different lights and forms, and boats captured in moments of urgency, tranquillity and adventure.
I also have a portfolio of life works developed after breaking free from negative relationships with my own body, and a collection of land paintings which are often dominated by huge suns or moons which represent life, adventure and the enticing idea of an ever expanding horizon. And there are flowers...
